Northern Liberties has its fair share of Mexican restaurants for locals and visitors to get their fill of tacos, but options in neighboring Fishtown have been a little more sparse.

True to the spirit of the neighborhood, Heffe Tacos has opened for business with one very simple promise: “Tacos that don’t suck.”

According to Foobooz, the walk-up restaurant at 1431 Frankford Avenue is the brainchild of Peter McAndrews, who’s won plenty of accolades and loyalty for Paesano’s, Modo Mio and Monsu.

Known for his creative sandwich combos, McAndrews will offer an alternative to typical taco variations at Heffe, branching out to encompass other Latin-inspired and Mediterranean entries.

The Mac Daddy includes beef cheek, plumb mostarda, red chimichurri and queso fresco, while the Betty Won’t packs chickpeas, roast tomatoes, almonds, chimichurri, and sweet pea guacamole.

Open daily for lunch and dinner, Heffe Tacos will remain open until 3 a.m. on weekends. A pair tacos will range from $6-9 and if you’re in the mood for something else, the menu also has burritos, soups, and poutine.
